The Wheel of Dharma in Motion

A Gesture That Connects

Both hands rest in front of the chest. The right hand, palm facing outward, rests lightly on the chest. The left hand covers it from the inside. Thumb and index finger touch – as if gently setting the Wheel of Dharma in motion. This mudra is also found with Maitreya, the Buddha of the future, and with Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelugpa school – both representing the renewal of the Dharma in a time of forgetfulness.
