Evolution of the Kalimba – with unique membrane sound

Developed by the German manufacturer Hokema, the Sansula is an evolution of traditional African thumb pianos like the Kalimba. It consists of a wooden body with a stretched cellulose membrane, on which metal tines are mounted. These produce soft, resonant, and warm-sounding tones. The wooden body acts as a resonating soundbox – meaning the sound volume is significantly higher than with a normal Kalimba.
